web application interface design

Wells Fargo

project slide show

Assignment: design and produce a web user interface for project butterfly–a web application that automates Wells Fargo's physical-to-physical stock transfer process.

Challenge: design a web interface that's clear, handsome, provides visual clues for users, minimizes training time, enhances user acceptance while creating a flexible, extensible web UI tool kit that can be used to easily build interfaces for subsequent business process modules and works well with the chosen XML/XSLT controller architecture.

Solution: The screen elements are grouped into panel objects which are related by function and data type- making it easy to perform work tasks. Soft grey tones are used to make it easy to view the screen for extended periods. Screen panels can be dynamically hidden and displayed to maximize the usability of the screen area. The use of Iframes throughout the interface minimizes trips to the server while ensuring that the screen is always current. Navigation is programmatically controlled where ever possible.
