Assignment: Design and develop a compelling rich media site for potential and current clients of Los Angles-based video producer Orrin Anderson.

Challenge: Create a site design that reflects Orrin's straight-ahead video production aesthetic and allows site visitors focus on his work —not my site design. Create an modular, maintainable site that Orrin can add to over time as new video projects are completed.

Solution: A flash remoting based site architecture breaks the site content up into small, easy to maintain chunks. Dynamic content for the Update, Output, and Project Detail sections is pulled into the flash player at runtime from a mySQL database via the open-source AMFPHP Flash Remoting gateway.

Orrin's video content is presented as unembedded Flash video [.flv] to increase flexibility: video content can be updated without recompiling the site's .swfs and can run independent of the parent flash movie's frame rate. This site is near completion. [view the site]
